We fabricated a ¾ scale model of the front portion of a cable car for Google. San Francisco Muni operates a shop that restores and repairs cable cars as needed. The workers at that shop provided us with a tour, description of their fabrication techniques, and the opportunity to photograph their work to help us detail our cable car. Our contemporary adaptation of the design is painted with the same paint that Muni uses, and is topped with a genuine San Francisco cable car bell.
