Job description

We are currently looking for additions to our layout department. The position involves taking approved sets of drawings and turning them into a buildable set of shop drawings. This includes proofreading, confirming finishes and details, and finding efficient and cost-effective ways of fabricating. Another portion of the job is purchasing all of the necessary hardware and material to complete the job.

What you need to know

The position relies heavily on reading and interpreting architectural documents and drawings, so experience with plans and sections is a good start. Since we fabricate everything in our shop, woodworking experience is a plus. The job requires being able to switch between multiple ongoing projects, so you should be able to effectively manage your time. Being able to effectively communicate design intentions to our team of highly skilled fabricators is essential. If you have a good base of knowledge, specific skills can be learned, so what we would really like is someone who is willing to learn and has a good attitude. Here’s a list of some of the skills we think would be helpful:

-          3D Modeling (Skecthup, Solidworks, Rhino)
